the end of a very long week!

what a long week it has been! I'm pooped!
TGIF and TGIF even more for a 3 day weekend!

No big plans for the weekend - we having dinner tonight @ the legion w/my parents and my aunt & uncle who have never been there to eat-- they have wonderful seafood/steak dinners on Friday nights - yum yum cant wait!

In the meantime, just hanging out with Mason - I bought him a bunch of shirts @ Target yesterday -- starting to buy 3T size already (he already has enough 2T clothes!) Found a bunch of really cute/funny ones. The one he is wearing today has a bunch of marshmallows doing cannonballs into a mug of hot chocolate...i thought it was funny (so does he! :) ) Also bought a gate for on top of the stairs, and one for the bottom too as it is his "new trick" to crawl up the stairs as fast as he can without getting caught.

Saturday hoping to go to scrapbooking in Alvarado - so far I havent been able to go but think it would be a great time to get some scrapping caught up before scrapbook camp in April.

Sunday we are going to have a few people over to watch the vike's game- nothing crazy
Monday-- planning on doing nothing!! oh ya, need to mail out Mason's bday party invites...Target had NO invitation envelopes when I was there - so disappointed. I ended up buying some el cheapo thank you cards just so I can steal the envelopes-
got to go, Mason found my paper scraps garbage and is having a blast taking them out piece by peice!

laundry laundy laundry

is at the top of my todo list today-- i havent done laundry all week so there is a lot of catching up to do! for one little boy with such little clothes he sure does create a lot of laundry to do by the end of the week! also want to get all the christmas decorations down (finally!) today -- we just unplugged the christmas lights from the timer yesterday - that is what we get i guess for not putting any up until Dec. 18th!

this weekend was a busy SIOUX hockey weekend. Friday night Bobby's work hosted a suite @ the ralph and our friends Drew & Meg came up from DL for our 5th (?? losing track of the years!) annual Buzick-Barker Christmas. The tradition started back when we all 4 still lived in Gardner. Now we don't get to see them as often since we are 2 hours away not just 2 miles away. Also got to see my best friend Sammy and her husband, and their two friends Jamie & Jim. It was so great to see them again - they too have moved far away from us, so it makes getting together that much more special.
Saturday we had "family night" at the game - Mason got up on the big screen, I of course, wasn't paying attention and missed it completely. I am totally bummed, would have loved to see it. I was probably shoving my face with the sugar-coated almonds I get every game anyways...
i have also been reading a bunch of new decorating blogs to go along with my daily HGTV fix! one of my favorites is "Our Suburban Cottage" . Inspired me to paint our front entry "Organic Tea" on Wednesday- now looking for a black barn star and maybe a small bench/couch to finish it off!
time to get back to work and "being productive" !!!

Happy New Year!!!!

Hello 2010! Wow already a new decade-- remember where you were when the big Y2K happened? That was already 10 years ago! I admit I was actually a little nervous that New Year about what was going to happen. Anyways- here we are 10 years later! Bobby & I did make it up for the New Year, watching a movie. I was very proud of both of us!

New Years Resolutions.... I wonder who came up with this idea. Like why should we wait for a new year to "change" ourselves? I think a birthday resolution is a better idea. Plus it gives me 3 more months + 5 days to think of some better ones...
  • quit swearing-- or at least not so much. I think I might even start a swear jar :)
  • be more productive at home & work-- sounds better (easier) than 'quit procrastinating' or 'get organized'
  • Run in the Meet Your Neighbor Day 5k this year-- this should also hopefully get me working out on a regular basis
  • Read 3 novels -- this is quite a high goal for me actually; I havent read an entire book (not counting baby/pregnancy/child rearing) since college. I am open to suggestions on some good reads!!!!
  • be the best mommy, wife, and person I can be :)

I think that is a good start! #2 and #5 are pretty generic but that's ok I think! Now off to get some much much needed cleaning done (see #2!)

Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

missing: 1 living room

I think it is burried somewhere under all these toys!!!

overall we had a GREAT christmas, other than the fact that bobby and I were SICK Christmas Eve-- yuck. We stayed in Argyle @ my parents Thursday night and ended up staying Friday night too because of the blizzard. Mason got a ton of toys and a new METS toybox to put them in... it is plump full already. I dont know what we are going to do when his birthday comes in less than one month!

We came home to a good 2 feet of snow in our driveway - it was quite tricky trying to carry Mason into the house through the huge drifts. It took Bobby over 2 hours to snowblow out our driveway... We had Christmas with Bobby's side of the family the weekend before - it was so nice to see everyone! Angel & her family spent the night - we miss hanging out with those guys; we dont get to see them that often! :(

Bobby was so pumped that he finally got his snowmobile! It was his Christmas ***SUPRISE***from me- I did have some help from my dad and a couple of Bobby's friends- thanks so much! That funny looking face is because I put a MRE (miliatary meal) in the box with his snowmobile gloves to add some weight (he thought he was getting a pool table cover) -- that look is because he has no idea and doesn't get the joke... I havent gotten a chance to go riding with him yet but it looks like this snow is going to be here for a while!

I am bummed that the Christmas Season is officially over tomorrow-- it seems like I never really even get into the *Christmas spirit* until like a day before Christmas, and then I'm always sad it is over so quickly!

Tonight we are just hanging out @ home - crazy how life changes! 2 years ago we were in Las Vegas getting crazy bringing in '08 and tonight I am excited to grill halibut and play wii with my husband when Mason goes to bed. Hopefully we will make it to midnight! Last year I think we were asleep by 10!

favorite time of day

I have NEVER been a morning person in my life, but since Mason has been born, early morning has become my favorite time of day. I got up at 6:30 this morning to start getting things ready for Christmas dinner today (we are celebrating w/Bobby's family!) and now I'm taking a break, drinking my coffee (it is the only time of day when I actually drink my coffee rather than pouring it and leaving it somewhere to get cold!), hanging out with Jefferson, and enjoying the quietness of our house, and the smell of the pies in the oven. Yum yum!

Last night Bobby & I finished wrapping gifts for our neices & nephews and for Mason. It is so crazy to compare last year's Christmas to this year.... we bought & wrapped presents for our SON, and put Love MOM & DAD on the tags! You would think after almost 11 months we would be used to being a MOM and DAD but still from time to time we just stop and talk about how crazy & awesome it is that we are actually PARENTS!

I have been really tring to take 1 picture a day this December -- I know a lot of people do this for an entire year but I thought I would just start out with 25 days to see if I could do it. Here are a few of my favorites---- (PS: I have a confession - I have cheated a couple of times, some of the pictures are taken on the same day!)

Break time is over!!!

DC Trip!

Last week, Bobby & I took a trip to Washington, DC (our nation's capital!) for Bobby's Recuriter of the Year (it is actually called something like strentgh maintenence... I'm sorry honey I forogt all the fancy wording....recruiter of the year is easier to remember) award's banquet! We left Thursday morning from GF. Angel watched Mason for us (thanks again Angel, he had a blast!). We stayed at an awesome hotel - the Gaylord on National Harbor. Very fancy! There we met up with an old friend of Bobby's who had been working in Baltimore, the three of us hung out drinking $10 cocktails in the bar. :)

Then Friday morning we went to a "Spousal Breakfast" for me! The other wives and I got recognized by the Sargeant Major of the Army National Guard, a beautiful glass picture frame, and an award. And a free breakfast! Friday afternoon we took a tour bus around all the monuments - WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Lincoln, Washington memorials. Took lots of pictures!
Saturday we did some shopping @ National Harbor -- did you know there is actually a store JUST for the PEEPS bunnies? Crazy!

Saturday night was the awards banquet - so many "important" speakers. I'm not sure his exact title, but the "main" gentleman talking had bodyguards and his own flag when he came in! Bobby told me that the President has his own flag too, as does the Secretary of Defense, etc.

Sunday we had a later flight so we managed the DC "Metro System" (ie: subways) and went to Arlington National Cemetary, where we saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. That was pretty awesome.

Back at the airport we learned our flight to Mpls was delayed, which was no suprise because every one of our flights had been delayed so far; however, when we did eventually get to Mpls, we learned that our flight to GF had taken off ON TIME, of course! So we had to spend the night @ a hotel! We did make it back to GF Monday morning, then went to get the Mase-dog @ his aunties.

It was a wonderful trip! Thanks honey!

yikes!

I didnt realize I havent written on here since Nov 11th!!! I dont even have a good excuse like we were on some exotic vacation away from all technology, although I sure wish I was today! It is 9 degrees- feels like 30 below!!!
So what have the Buzick's been up to?
  • I went to a going-away party for one of my best girlfriends Sam-- she and her husband Drew moved to Cavalier! :(
  • Sioux hockey games -- lots of them!
  • Vikings game w/Jay & Tracy 11-15
  • The night before the Vikings game Bobby & I went to see a play @ the Jungle Theater in uptown - it was INCREDIBLE!!!!!
  • Mason turned 10 months old on 11-23!!! How fast time flies!
  • Thanksgiving: We went to my grandma's here in Warren - had lots and lots and lots of food and my grandma even drug out the old photo albums! So fun to look at all the old pictures!

  • Dec 1st: We officially got our first snowfall - and what a snowfall it was!! Wish I would've taken a picture outside Nov 30th because we went from having NO snow whatsoever to having TONS of it (like in the picture above)
  • Mason got his first wrapped Christmas present to put under the tree (which we just set up today, but still need to decorate it!)

Otherwise it has just been work-work-work!!! I have also been trying to work on some new crafty things for my etsy store - will let you know when they are ready... here is a hint - nothing to do with vinyl lettering :) Also got the tree up today - FINALLY! - and attempted to do some holiday baking. Got the recipies off the martha stewart website - I should've known better-- my cookies turned out HORRIBLE :(

Today Bobby was gone to drill so Mason & I got to have a M&M (Mommy & Mason) day - we played a lot, read some books, and just hung out. I was so excited Mason stood by himself for like 5 seconds (counting fast -- so probably really just 3 seconds) - I had been holding onto him below his armpits and then let go. He would've done it for longer I think if he hadn't realized I wasn't holding on to him. His new favorite thing is to walk back and forth across the living room with his john deere tractor.

Well - I'm off to get some much needed scrapbooking done!! Or to bed which sounds equally as exciting to me!
