This weekend Bobby & I went to our friends' Ryan and Cassie's wedding down in Mpls-- it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding, and a GORGEOUS reception! Everything was wonderful. We went down Friday night, arriving at the radisson about 10PM or so-- then Saturday we went to the MALL OF AMERICA where I hadn't been since I was 10 years old. It was only my second time being there-- I went to Archivers which I was so excited for, and I dont know if my expectations were too high but I was kind of let down : ( granted, it was much better than any scrapbook store in GF but still, I was hoping to find more.
So then today at 9AM we get up to go back home and find out that both I-94 and I-29 are closed!!! So now it is 10AM we just got done eating breakfast and now are probably going back to bed since we are staying here another night!

ughh..
SO i need to vent out my frustration of the day. Actually, its not just today, it is something that has been bothering me for a LONG time and today must just be the 'straw that broke the camel's back.' i dont know if it is the pregnancy hormones or what it is but lately people have been getting on my nerves! I am getting so sick of people talking to me and saying things like "oh you can't spank your kids or they will get taken away or you will have CPS come to your door"
UGH!! It makes me SOOO mad because it is so completely untrue. Hello, this is what I do for a living so dont tell me about what I do (and PS, if you have also heard that social workers get "bonuses" based on the number of kids they take away, that too is untrue, trust me, I have yet to get any type of bonus at this job other than getting phone calls from law enforcement in the middle of the night). If people really want to know, all of what we do is based on the law, from what we go out on to what we do when we get there. If you are curious, you can look at: 626.556, 260C (all of it), 626.5561, 145.902, 609.221 to .2242, 609.342-.345, 617.24, 609.378. You can look it up youself if you want, or you can just believe me that no where in there does it say that spanking is against the law. What is against the law is if you spank your kid so hard you leave black and blue marks. Or some people "spank" their kids across the face and leave black and blue marks or worse. Basically what I am saying is that child protection workers have enough FAR more serious issues to deal with (ie: sexual abuse, child prostitution, children being taken to the ER due to being injured by their parents, infant mortalities, homelessness, etc) each and every day than to worry about if someone uses spanking to discipline their kid. Please.
I'm so glad no one but my friends read my blog --- I just needed to vent :)

another BUSY weekend
I think I am starting to actually not like having long weekends.... they always go by twice as fast as a "normal" weekend because they are always so jam-packed with 'places to go and people to see'

Friday: I decided we are nuts. Bobby & I got up at 2:30AM so that we could leave our house by 3AM to do Friday after Thanksgiving shopping. The store at the air force base was giving out $20 gift cards to the first 100 people that came to stand in the cold, dark line. The base opens at 5AM so we wanted to get there early. What I dont even want to admit is that this is something Bobby & I have done every year since 2005! Oh, and did I mention that they have this $20 gift card thing for 3 days in a row? So for the past two years Bobby and I have gone Friday, Saturdy, and Sunday to get our free gift cards. Haha. If I figured it out, I think we get the equivelant of less than $5 per hour (each of course) for travel time and standing in line. Minus gas.
Thursday (Thanksgiving): We went to my parents' house in Argyle (aka: A-town) and had dinner with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. My mom made us a huge delicious traditional turkey dinner. Yum! Yum!

So anyways- this year we get to the base at 4:05AM, and come to find out, they opened at 4AM this year, not at 5! So we didnt even get our gift cards!!! We were so mad!!! We did end up getting most of our Christmas shopping done though, and got to spend the early morning together even if we were frustrated we missed out on our $40. So even though it's taken me 3 years to figure out, I guess being nuts isn't all that bad.
We also picked up Mason's crib and dresser Friday morning, and I spent all of Friday afternoon and evening putting them together. I love doing little "build-it" projects! Bobby carried everything up for me and offered to help, but I really wanted to do this myself. I did this while Bobby took our nephew Preston to his first Sioux hockey game. So now Mason's room is pretty much all set up--- now he just needs to get here! We counted yesterday I think we are under 70 days to go!
Saturday: Went to Fargo to Bobby's brother's house to celebrate Thanksgiving with their family and his sister's family. But first we went to a scrimmage at the WAO school because one of Bobby's recruits was playing. It has been so long since I had gone to a bb game, it made me really miss going! Tangie also made a huge delicous Thanksgiving dinner with the best mashed potatoes I have ever had! She told me the secret-- you put in a ton of sour cream and cream cheese. Very healthy. No wonder it tastes so good... After we left Tony & Tangie's house we went to Grand Forks to meet our friends Cory and Alicia before the hockey game and went to eat again! Then we went to the hockey game-- even though we have season tickets, it was the first home game I had been to since the season opener in early October!
So now today we have church at 10:30 and then my parents and brother and sister are coming over for dinner. We have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning, then I'm working late tomorrow night.... I just really want a day to sit around and have NOTHING to do!!

updated baby bump pics

I haven't written on here forever again-- I decided today since we are just hanging out with my parents I would add more photos to try to hide the gross deer ones of bobby's... here are a couple more baby bump pics of me, 24 weeks and 28 weeks. I can't believe I will officially be 30 weeks pregnant tomorrow! The time really has gone by so fast, I just hope that the last 10 weeks do too!
Mason's Room

On Veteran's day I finally finished putting up the border in mason's room-- next we just have to put his crib & dresser together and then put up pictures and the curtains, and his room will be complete! We also got him a bouncy-seat and a swing-- it is all set up and ready to go! I couldn't wait to get it set up, and so now it is just sitting in our living room where it will sit for 2 months until he is ready to use it.

back to the pioneer days...

all weekend long bobby & my brother dustin went out hunting - it was my brother's first time deer hunting, he was so happy to have bobby take him. He "caught" (haha) a deer on his first shot, and even though it was a little on the small side, it still made him happy nonetheless. then today, bobby got a buck. i know nothing about huntinig whatsoever but i guess it was a big deal-- and even though i think these pics are a little gross (very gross) i am putting them on my blog because i am so proud of bobby & my brother. if we lived in the pioneer days, we would be able to have food this winter :)

baby furniture!

We finally picked out a crib & dresser for little Mason! it took me so long to pick one out, as any of my friends will tell you, i ALWAYS take FOREVER to make decisions (even when it comes to shampoo)-- i think i had "picked out" about 8 different cribs/dressers before finally deciding on a set. Bobby kept agreeing with me whichever set I would like-- his "say" in it was that he wanted the set to be cherry-- which was incredibly helpful for me because out of the 500+ cribs I looked at online (target, walmart, babies r us, and about 4 random sites), there were a lot less available in a cherry finish.
